The Reading List for Millennial Girls to Feel Inspired

Hello Ladies (and gentlemen if you found your way here)! I wanted to share 5 more books specifically for Millennial women. There are a lot of unique struggles that we all face a girls in this generation.

The five books I picked are special because they were all written by celebrities. Each of them really resonated with me because they are candid and relatable. I hope that after reading one, two or all of these titles that come out a little inspired, motivated or at the very least a little bit more okay with who you are and where you are in life.

I wrote a popular post that’s really similar to this one called “5 Books Millennials Should Read to Crush Their Quarter Life Crisis.” Check out that one if you are looking for more great books to read.

Yes, please

By Amy Poehler

The first book that I want to share with all of you lovely ladies was written by the great and hilarious Amy Poehler. Not only is she one of my favorite comedians and all around lady friend to all, she is inspiring. This one was on my reading list for a long time and I am beyond glad that I was able to find time to read it.

Why should you read this? As a comedian first, Amy writes a hilarious page turner filled with life tips, funny stories, and inspiring words. If you are looking to be inspired by someone who is truly real but has celebrity status, this is the book for you. It is also a New York Times #1 Best Seller and raved about by critics this is one to definitely add to your reading list. To grab a copy of this book on Amazon, click here.

Is everyone hanging out without me

By Mindy Kaling

This one is another New York Times Best Seller! I think the title alone feels relatable because I suffer from severe FOMO (fear of missing out). I think most Millennial girls will be able to identify with at least one part if not all of Mindy’s book. She makes observations about life, love, and everything in between with her amazing sense of humor.

Why should you read this book? Out of all of the books this one is the most relatable. Mindy gets real about life. She makes you feel a little bit more okay with being your authentic self, no matter where you are in life. Click here to buy a copy to add to your reading list.

Scrappy Little Nobody

by Anna Kendrick

If you love the Pitch Perfect movies, then you are bound to love Anna Kendrick! If you love her, then you will definitely love her book. The book is filled with a collection of writings from Anna’s life. Trust me when I say her life is not boring but filled with amazing tales that will have your jaw dropping and laughing.

Why should you read this book? Anna is an amazing writer, who will make you think and laugh at the same time. Like I have said about every other book, this one will inspire you, especially if you feel like a scrappy little nobody. She wrote a #1 New York Times best seller, and it was number one for a reason, ladies! If you want to read it, click here to get a copy.

Bossypants

By Tina Fey

A co-worker highly recommended this one to me, and was even kind enough to lend me her copy. I look up to Tina Fey as a comedic writer, as she created and wrote one of my favorite shows of all time 30 Rock. Tina tells us stories from her awkward days in college to meeting her husband to becoming the first female head writer on SNL.

Why should you read this? If you are a girl who never really felt like they fit into their surroundings, this is a book for you. Tine Fey really shows you that being different is not a bad thing. Being different and embracing it leads to a funny story you can tell in the future and great accomplishments. If you want to grab a copy of this book, click here

‎Modern Romance

By Aziz Ansari

Okay, I know you were probably expecting this entire list to be filled with books by women but nope! The last book on this list is about romance in the modern age. If you didn’t know, even celebrities have their fair share of relationship problems. In this book Aziz Ansari looks into the problems with dating in our generation.

Why should you read this book? Aziz went all out for this book by teaming up with some of the leading researches in the field of Psychology to conduct a huge study. He took this research and provides really relatable insight into romance as defined by our generation. If you have dated in the 20th century, you know that we have our own set of really unique problems.

This book has the ability to make you laugh while simultaneously teaching you something, making you feel better about your love life, and giving you some hope or the future. Who doesn’t want to feel a little better about dating? Click here if this sounds like something you would want to read!
